Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Infrastructure & Technical Services team in the capacity of: End-Of-Day Operator
Location: Kingston
 
 
As An End-Of-Day Operator, you will:
  • Perform day-to-day functions for the successful execution of applications relating to the core banking systems.
  • Facilitate the operations of the core banking systems, branches and departments by enabling access to updated online account information and daily printing of reports and statements.
  • Effectively and efficiently operate and monitor computing systems and process all scheduled production and test runs.
  • Deliver an effective and efficient performance of Sagicor’s core-banking platform and other processes for branches and departments ensuring high-availability and on-time service:
  • Successfully perform core-banking Close of Business/End of Day, archival functions.
  • Successfully perform day-to-day functions relating to the successful execution of data processing applications, thereby enabling maximum availability of online systems.
  • Run backup and restore jobs and procedures to update the disaster recovery environment to ensure DR capability.
  • Perform electronic daily settlements, such as VISA and MasterCard.
  • Monitor the performance of processes, as instructed by Operating Manuals – vigilantly observing processing times to quickly identify problems.
  • Monitor system disk space, usage, system logs, message queues, active jobs and outputs, for normal and error messages and to detect error codes and conditions.
  • Identify service/ operational inefficiencies and make recommendations for value added enhancements to Manager.
  • Perform the monitoring of systems, inclusive of required walk-through of the data center, and provide first level diagnostic support as required.
  • Complete all assigned Help Desk tickets.
  • Perform printing of scheduled reports, Credit Cards, Current Account statements, notices or advices.
  • Effectively complete jobs and processes to extract and transfer output files for reporting purposes and perform accurate
  • updating of the report archival system.
  • Perform Automated Clearing House (clearing files), Merchant Settlement and uploads.
  • Perform database extracts and produce utility extracts for clients.
  • Prepare cartridges and tapes in preparation for processing and move to respective libraries in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Accurately execute and move T24/ PRIME database backups.
  • Perform any other related duties that may be assigned.
What do you need?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • At least two years’ working experience in an IT related capacity in the banking field.
  • Certification in Computer Science or Network Communication would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge and experience in Unix/ Linux operating systems.
  • Sound working knowledge and experience in core-banking systems.
  • Sound working knowledge and experience in PC/ server-based applications.
  • Familiarity with incident/problem management methodologies.
  • Basic knowledge of monitoring tools used in the local environment.
  • Strong analytical/ critical thinking skills; results and team oriented.
  • Sound knowledge of processes such as input and output files, application threading related to End of Day operations.
  • Effective problem resolution and processes automation skills.
