Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:
  • The individual in this function should be very flexible with the ability to work on weekends and public holidays.
  • This position may require travelling to all store locations as is required.
    Direct oversight of the day to day operation of Fontana Ferry, Bogue – Montego Bay, Waterloo and Barbican warehouses.
  • Coordinate all imports with foreign imports supervisor.
  • Coordinate imports with custom brokers and Jamaica customs.
  • Overseas clearance and checking off of all shipments to your facility.
  • Manage warehouse personnel to oversee proper inventory, pricing and organisation of foreign goods.
  • Develop a strong Standard Operating Procedures for your location to maximise efficiencies in the management and security of inventory at your facility.
  • Work closely with the inventory team to ensure audits and follow up with any inventory issues at your location.
  • Coordinate shipment deliveries from Montego Bay to be sorted and prepared for delivery into Barbican and Waterloo.
  • Coordinate shipments to be sent out from the Bogue & Ferry warehouses to locations outside of Kingston and Montego Bay.
  • Strategically manage the warehouse in compliance with the company's policies and vision.
  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations.
  • Ensure mechanisms are in place to secure the safety of the department’s resources
  • Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilisation.
  • Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures
  • Delivers on established key performance indicators - KPIs
  • Maintain standards of health, safety, hygiene and security
  • Ensure stock control systems are up to date and making sure inventories are accurate
  • Prepare annual operating budget, reports and statistics as required
  • Liaise with logistics, internal clients, and suppliers
  • Plan staff rosters, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results
  • Overseeing the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment. Management of the company fleet.
  • Procure warehouse operating product and services with the best rates as per best practice standard
  • Ensures that the company is protected from business risks related to the specific areas of responsibility
  • Liaises with the relevant team leaders to ensure that adequate supplies of products are available to satisfy the demands of the market.
  • Lead activities related to efficiency optimization and effective waste management
  • Direct supervisory role of the following team members:
  • Warehouse team involved in container offloading, sorting and pricing
  • Data entry individual
  • Foreign imports clerk
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
 
In addition to performance of the essential functions above, this position may be required to perform a combination of other supportive functions, to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of Fontana Limited.
 
Other:
 
  • In order to properly service our clients, you may be required to work outside of our scheduled business hours.
  • Timely execution of duties in keeping with a pre-arranged schedule.
  • Care and diligence in protecting the organisation’s assets
Job Requirement
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
 
  • Working Environment / Physical Activities:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged period of working in external, environmental conditions and being open to the elements.
  • Work is normally performed in both an interior/office or external work environment.
  • This position will require persons to do manual lifting of items up to 70lbs.
EXPERIENCE; EDUCATION OR CERTIFICATION
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar capacity
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Logistics/Supply Chain or related field
  • Proven experience in Warehouse Management procedures and best practices
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office & Google Docs etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of the consumer goods industry.
  • Previous retail industry experience would be an asset.
  • Solid understanding of logistics, inventory management and stock controls
  • Supervisory Training & Certificate
  • Ability to travel (Domestic & International) if required.
  • Must own and operate a reliable motor vehicle

  • In-depth Knowledge of the fundamentals of Customs processes
  • Attentive to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Self-motivated and result-oriented approach to work
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver against competing priorities
  • Ability to operate autonomously and demonstrate initiative in problem solving, decision making and proactive approach to job
  • Computer Literate in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc)
  • Work efficiently and accurately
