Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Centralized Business Support team in the capacity of: Transfer Assistant
Location: Kingston
 
As a Transfer Assistant, you will:
  • Process Inward and Outward clearing (local and foreign currency) cheques and other documents received from other banks and branches.
  • Attend the Clearing house sessions held daily to exchange items processed by the branches.
  • Update the Treasury and Trade Services teams with local and foreign clearing figures exchanged.
  • Attend clearinghouse sessions daily to exchange other bank cheques for Sagicor cheques.
  • Provide the relevant departments with clearing figures daily.
  • Capture Inward clearing items according to established procedures.
  • Dispatch Inward clearing Items to the Validation unit.
  • Open proof bags and record receipt of items in dual custody.
  • Sort and dispatch contents of bags to the relevant branches and departments.
  • Correct and balance imaged batches received from branches to ensure the meeting of Automated Clearing House schedules.
  • Power encode out ward clearing items to verify receipt of imaged items.
  • Batch and balance local and foreign exchange outward clearings for each bank and pack the relevant bags.
  • Prepare Bank of Jamaica clearinghouse statements for all currencies.
  • Process foreign exchange clearing items.
  • Process entries for referrals, material defects and rejected items ensuring that the relevant general ledgers and client accounts are correctly updated.
  • Collect service charges for payroll processing.
  • Balance and clear all outstanding items in the suspense general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and dispatch cheque book orders to the branches within the agreed service level agreements.
  • Meet the recourse period outlined in the JCBA Clearinghouse Rules of all clearing items processed.
  • Complete monthly reports within stipulated deadlines.
  • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
  • Minimum of a diploma in a relevant discipline or six (6) CSEC subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Minimum of two (2) years working experience in the banking operations department of a commercial banking entity.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of securities processing would be an asset.
  • High degree of accuracy and detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
  • High degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong team orientation.
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Jamaica Clearing Bankers Association Clearinghouse rules.
