Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Business Optimization and Systems Control team in the capacity of: Technical Writer
Location: Kingston
As a Technical Writer, you will:
Create and revise technical documents such as standard operating procedures (SOP), manuals and audit reports.
Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
Bridge the gap between our subject matter experts and our end-users, enabling effective use of our products and services while ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Develop a content plan or outline for technical documents, outlining the structure, sections, and key topics to be covered.
Produce clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation, such as user manuals, instruction guides, and online help content.
Create content that is appropriate for the target audience, considering their technical knowledge and background.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, software developers, and engineers to gather and verify technical information.
Gather feedback from stakeholders to improve technical documents.
Structure content logically, ensuring documents are easy to navigate and reference, and maintain consistency in formatting and style.
Determine the type of publication that will best serve the project requirements.
Edit and revise documents for clarity, consistency, and accuracy, ensuring that content adheres to established style guides.
Create or work with respective teams to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process.
Gather information from subject matter experts, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand and document technical processes, products, or systems.
Conduct research and investigate complex technical concepts.
Organize and manage a repository of technical documents, making them easily accessible to users.
Keep documentation up-to-date, particularly in response to product updates or changes.
Establish document review, set schedule and ensure compliance.
Manage and maintain version control for documents to track changes and ensure documentation is up-to-date.
Ensure that technical documentation complies with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
Bachelor’s Degree in English Language, Technical Writing, or related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
A minimum of two (3) years’ working experience in the field or a similar capacity.
Proficiency in using documentation tools and software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent writing and grammatical skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable language for non-technical users.
Proficiency in documenting software applications, user manuals, technical specifications, and other technical documents.
