Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Infrastructure & Technical Services team in the capacity of: Team Lead – Technical Services
Location: Kingston
This role involves:
Occasional travel offsite (to branch locations).
Being on-call; occasional work outside of normal business hours (including weekends).
Exposure to working conditions including lifting of equipment, to dust and non-ergonomic working situations.
As a Team Lead – Technical Services, you will:
Provide oversight and resolution of hardware and software problems of all major information systems/ computer equipment and their associated peripherals.
Assist in the execution in all major projects.
Provide security administration for all computer systems.
Assist in the preparation and execution of the IT equipment budget for the Group in preparation for bulk purchases as well as overseeing their successful deployment.
Ensure the team configures workstations, multifunctional devices, pinning devices, telephony and small UPS portfolios.
Ensure that tickets assigned to the unit, are properly assigned to the relevant team members.
Coordinate with the team to ensure the configuration of ABMs and point-of-sale terminals.
Identify and resolve client problems and concerns associated with office automation equipment, hardware and software:
Troubleshoot technical user problems with personal computers, applications and peripherals.
Implement solutions to solve or prevent user problems.
Maintain personal computers (PC) and peripherals.
Check for adequate resources.
Plan installation time and install the application using given procedures.
Test the correctness of installations.
Notify supervisors and users of successful installations or any problems which may delay installation.
Document flaws in the installation/ release notes.
Assist with the revision of standards in workstation management and office automation support.
Assist in providing feedback on the training needs for office automation.
Assist with personal computer/ laptop deployment procedure optimization.
Uphold the company’s policy guidelines and recommend new and improved guidelines to ensure compatibility and better service to PC users.
Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
Computer Technician certification/ diploma or equivalent technical qualification.
At least five (5) years working experience supporting networked workstations and personal computing applications.
Proven ability to correctly diagnose hardware and software problems. Working Knowledge of the hardware, software, application and integration of communication equipment, inclusive of modems, hubs and cabling plants and networking systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of the data processing and network operating environments.
Effective human relations skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
