Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Credit Risk team in the c apacity of: Retail Collections Officer
Location: Kingston
As a Retail Collections Officer, you will:
- Manage the bank’s delinquency portfolio of loans and overdrafts, by recommending and initiating corrective actions.
- Contribute to the quality of Sagicor Bank’s retail credit portfolio.
- Minimize the risk of loss within the credit portfolio through efficient execution of Sagicor Bank.
- Request and monitor the credit file of delinquent borrowers which will be obtained from the branches.
- Schedule meetings, carefully research and respond to letters/ emails, manage calls and update follow up sheets.
- Conduct investigations and initiate corrective action on delinquent accounts, including recommendation for principal waivers.
- Establish whereabout of borrowers and reason for delinquency.
- Establish and maintain constructive interactions in negotiating with delinquent borrowers in developing suitable repayment plan with borrowers/ guarantors.
- Issue the prescribed delinquency notices to delinquent borrowers/ guarantors.
- Collect payments from delinquent borrowers/ guarantors.
- Identify facilities that qualify for improved classification and obtain approval to return these facilities to the Branch.
- Identify and recommend securities for liquidation.
- Arrange for bailiffs to repossess and store motor vehicles and equipment.
- Arrange for public auction of properties for foreclosure and prepare documents for approval.
- Produce periodic and monthly reports.
- Visit Branches to give support to the review of the early delinquency Loan Portfolio.
- Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Management Studies, Finance, Banking or Accounting from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Minimum of four (4) years’ working experience in banking with at least two (2) years’ working experience in Collections.
- Banking experience with emphasis in Credit Management would be an asset.
- High level of analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Has tenacity in meeting targets.
- Sound credit judgment.
- Knowledge of the Bank’s policies and procedures regarding lending and collections.
- Thorough knowledge in the art of negotiating and debt collection techniques.
- Self-motivated, organized and results oriented.
- Knowledge of collateral and securities.
- High degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Sound knowledge of computer software packages including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
