Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Disbursement Operations – Payroll Services team in the capacity of:
Accounting Officer - Payroll Services (Contract)
Location: Kingston
 
As an Accounting Officer, you will:
  • Ensure accurate preparation and reconciliation of administrative payroll accounts and the remittance of deductions to the relevant authorities/ institutions.
  • Ensure the daily and monthly reconciliation of payroll-related accounts for sub ledgers to SUN general ledger.
  • Process monthly payrolls for administrative team members for assigned payrolls.
  • Review weekly payrolls for Advantage General and the Sagicor Life weekly payroll.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of all payroll accounts to the general ledger.
  • Prepare the statutory payroll deductions within the stipulated timeframes.
  • Research and provide statutory information to Group Human Resources as requested.
  • Prepare and submit annual returns to Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ).
  • Process Automated Clearing House advance payments.
  • Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or the successful completion of the ACCA Level II qualifications from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • At least two (2) years working experience in payroll accounting.
  • Sound in the use of computer software packages including spreadsheets and word processing applications.
  • Sound knowledge of payroll accounting.
  • Working knowledge of labour laws/ tax laws.
  • Good human relations skills.
  • Attention to details and excellent time management skills.
