Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Centralized Business Support team in the capacity of: Payments Officer
Location: Kingston
As a Payments Officer, you will:
Approve processed transactions within the limit prescribed.
Assist and provide relief duties for the Supervisor of the Payments unit.
Assist with the daily activities of the Payments unit including the scheduling, supervising and directing of Payments
Associates to ensure transactions are processed within the established service level agreements and adherence to established policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines.
Assist the Supervisor of the unit by:
Co-ordinating processes ensuring adherence to service quality standards as per established Service Level
Agreements for the Payments team.
Resolving issues that affect the service delivery, efficiency and productivity of the unit.
Monitor work assignments to control/ minimize overtime hours worked.
Recommend and support cost management initiatives.
Minimize write offs from the processes assigned.
Ensure adherence to Proceeds of Crime Act/ Anti-Money Laundering, Fraud Prevention guidelines and other applicable policies and procedures.
Co-ordinate the daily operations of RTGS ensuring that the related systems are functional.
Oversee the processing of and provide authorization for RTGS and wire transfers, ensuring that clients’ requests are being actioned according to established service standards.
Monitor rejected RTGS to ensure that timely communication is dispatched to the branches to facilitate resubmission of outgoing transfers as well as to facilitate the timely processing of incoming items.
Monitor the processing of all returned and referral items to ensure that clients’ accounts are updated timely and correctly.
Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
Bachelor’s degree in Banking/ Management Studies or relevant discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
Minimum (3) years overall working experience in commercial banking operations preferably at a senior level.
Knowledge of the bank’s policies and procedures.
Knowledge of SWIFT, T24, IT24, RTGS and ACH applications.
Knowledge of Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
Good command of the English Language and ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently, and in a customer and team-oriented environment.
Strong leadership, mentoring and interpersonal skills.
Excellent time and self-management skills to effectively plan, prioritize and organize work assignments.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
High degree of confidentiality and flexibility, honesty and integrity.
Effective problem-solving skills.
