Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Banking (SBJ/SIJ) team in the capacity of:
Accounting Associate – General Ledger Control (Contract)
Location: Kingston
 
 
As an Accounting Associate – General Ledger Control, you will:
  • Provide on-going support to the unit, at a level that will enhance the effective operation of the department and the achievement of its goals and objectives.
  • Provide daily and monthly system administration of the system SUNGL.
  • Troubleshoot users’ issues and resolve within the stipulated timeframes.
  • Escalate issues where necessary to the Barbados Service Centre and follow up to ensure the issues are resolved.
  • Actively participate in Financial Systems Projects– SUNGL projects.
  • Post transactions to the general ledger.
  • Ensure that all transactions from the subsystems are validated.
  • Investigate failed transactions and engage the relevant stakeholders after identifying issues.
  • Ensure all issues that needs to be escalated to the Shared Services IT Barbados team is completed within the stipulated timeframes.
  • Prepare test cases and test fixes from the Shared Services IT Barbados team.
  • Perform SmartCash and VEFT administrative functions including requests for reports, adding users and troubleshooting.
  • Play a major role in the administrative activities of the General Ledger Control unit.
  • Reconcile and monitor assigned system; T24 accounts.
  • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
  • Minimum of an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate general ledger(s), financial reporting, application and the monitoring of key internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and the assets of its clients.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Possesses flexibility.
  • Working knowledge of policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the company’s operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Familiarity with computerized accounting systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software packages including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
