The Board of Management and the Administration of the Brown’s Town Community College are seeking candidates for the stated job positions below.
Lecturer in Nursing (Clear Vacancy)
The successful candidate(s) should assume duties September 1, 2021.
Minimum Required Education and Experience for Core Lecturers in Nursing:
- Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution
- Post-Basic training certification in a related specialization
- Teacher training certification from an accredited institution
- Current license to practice nursing in Jamaica
- At least three (3) years’ nursing experience
- At least five (5) years’ teaching experience
There would be a preference for candidates being able to teach mental health and midwifery
Please note:
Registered Nurses without teaching certification may be employed as Assistant Lecturers initially. However, it is expected that within two (2) years of employment, the person engaged would have attained teacher training. Those with fewer than five (5) years’ teaching experience may be engaged as Assistant Lecturers until he/she has attained the criteria for Lecturer.
Core Functions of the Assistant Lecturer / Lecturer would include:
- Preparing and delivering lessons for online and face-to-face classes
- Providing Clinical Instruction
- Assisting with academic advisement and evaluation exercises
Clinical Instructor in Nursing (Contracted - 1 year)
Minimum Required Education and Experience for Core Lecturers in Nursing:
- Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution
- Post-Basic training certification in a related specialization
- Teacher training certification from an accredited institution
- Current license to practice nursing in Jamaica
- At least three (3) years’ nursing experience
- At least two (2) years’ teaching experience
Lecturers for September 2021
The successful candidate(s) should assume duties September 2021.
- Mathematics
- Biology (September 2021 — December 2021)
- Communications (Contracted - 1 year)
Minimum Required Qualification and Experience:
- Master’s degree in the relevant content area from an accredited institution
- Teacher training certification from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years’ teaching experience
- Proven track record of teaching within Higher Education (but recent graduates will be considered)
- Experience using instructional technologies and teaching online courses is preferred.

- Day and Evening programmes are offered between the hours of 08:00 a.m. and 08:30 p.m.
- All employment engagements are full-time.
