Description
Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Application Development & Support team in the capacity of:
Assistant Manager – Application Support Integration
Location: Kingston
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and undertake impact analysis on major application and take a leading role in proposing technical solutions within area of expertise.
- Check, instruct, assign work and functionally direct Programmers/ Systems Analysts.
- Lead the development and rollout of integration standards and processes aligned with strategic objectives to govern integration solutions.
- Design, code, modify existing programs, execute acceptance testing using different tools where necessary and debug as required.
- Plan, arrange and control meetings, workshops and training with client/ user staff during system investigations and throughout subsequent development work.
- Contribute to project team discussions and decision-making.
- Coordinate the preparation of detailed support documentation on the operation of programs.
- Recommend program changes to increase operating efficiency or to adapt to new systems requirements.
- Modify application software to include corrective maintenance.
- Apply automated and manual tools including ‘black box’ and ‘white box’ testing, to test and evaluate systems and networks under production.
- Perform thorough unit testing and peer review to ensure that quality output of development is maintained.
- Take responsibility for the definition, documentation and execution of one or more small-scale projects, providing effective leadership to team members.
- Communicate with core system vendors.
- Work with vendors to ensure accurate satisfaction of defined specifications.
- Evaluate the performance of team members against the unit’s objectives to ensure that they are appraised and assessed in accordance with agreed standards, procedures and timetables where applicable.
- Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems or related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
- At least five (5) years’ working experience managing/ directing software development projects and/ or teams.
- At least three (3) years’ working experience in object oriented and functional programming.
- Minimum of (1) year working experience in the financial sector.
- Minimum of (1) year working experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience in object-oriented languages (Java / C++ / .NET).
- Experience in structured reviews, software testing and testing tools.
- Proficient in System Development Life Cycle methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to design and develop moderately complex programs and program modifications.
- Experience in application systems integration of average complexity.
- Understanding of Enterprise architecture and security.
- Proven knowledge of enterprise networking and services with exposure to networks, databases, operating systems, hardware and other IT environmental components for mainframe, midrange and PC based systems.
- In-depth working knowledge of the process for the installation and maintenance of application software for multi-user computer systems.
- Experience with Full stack development (e.g. PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, JSON, XML, Java and / or C#).
- Experience with one or more real-time communication (e.g. RESTful APIs, WebServices, WebSockets) integration technologies and standards.
- Experience in developing, managing, and executing CI/ CD pipelines (eg. Bamboo, Bitbucket pipeline, Jenkins, Azure Pipelines).
- In-depth knowledge of various operating systems, including Linux and Windows.
