Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Banking (SIJ/SBJ) team in the capacity of: Accounting Associate – Bank Reconciliation
Location: Kingston
As an Accounting Associate – Bank Reconciliation, you will:
  • Prepare timely and accurate bank reconciliations for Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited as required.
  • Ensure accurate and timely journals are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Research and settle unreconciled items within Group standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all Divisions within the Group to ensure timely processing of transactions.
  • Review/ manage daily activities to ensure that transactions posted to the General Ledger are accurate and complete.
  • Manage and monitor internal controls to ensure they are maintained in accordance with the Group procedures.
  • Complete reconciliations within the stipulated timeframes as assigned.
  • Research and settle unreconciled items within the Group’s standards.
  • Review/ manage daily activities to ensure that transactions posted to the General Ledger are accurate and complete.
  • Follow up on all queries generated for unreconciled items.
  • Prepare and file journals by the established deadlines.
  • Process Stale-dated / Replacement cheques:
  • Prepare or revalidate staled dated cheques.
  • Ensure that completed work is delivered to Centralized Disbursements/ Payables unit after receipt.
  • Manage and monitor internal controls to ensure they are maintained in accordance with the Group’s procedures.
  • Prepare various audit schedules on a monthly basis according to company standards.
    Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Actively enrolled in a Professional Accounting Programme.
  • At least one (1) year working experience in Accounting.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting techniques/ frameworks.
  • Sound knowledge of Bank Reconciliation processes.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Accounting System.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate ideas and information clearly and concisely.
  • Attention to detail, Persistence and drive
  • Flexibility
