Description
College of Agriculture, Science & Education invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position at the College: Vice President, Administration & Operations
 
JOB SUMMARY:
 
The Vice President of Administration and Opérations is one of two senior administrators reporting directly to the President of the College. The Vice President provides management and leadership for the administrative and operational functions of the College. The incumbent oversees the administration.of the College’s farm and support services which include facilities planning and development, physical plant
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate with the President and other administrators in institutional planning, policy development, and problem resolution
  • Provide direction in the management of the College's physical plant and facilities planning
  • Ensure that all operating goals, objectives, plans, and programmes are consistent with the College’s overall mission and strategic plan
  • Oversee the planning, direction, and administration of the College’s support services, which include facilities planning management, safety and security procedures and measures
  • Recommend new or revised systems, methods, programmes and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of College services directly under the portfolio of the Vice President 
  • Review and analyze major contractual obligations of the institution as directed, to ensure consistency with overall financial goals, objectives and compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and standards
  • Oversee income generating activities and prepare monthly report for the President
  • Establish project management systems and monitor effectiveness project outcomes 
  • Establish a system that fosters and supports students' entrepreneurial initiatives and provide the technical guidance
  • Provide leadership over the College's commercial farm
  • Create an effective student learning environment to support College's strategic direction
  • Identify investment opportunities and develop profitability models and make recommendations to the President detailing expected benefits
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strategic thinker with sound technical skills, analytic ability,
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), presentation, and listening skills for multiple and diverse audiences.
  • Ability to build stakeholder value and build the profile of the College
  • Ability to plan, monitor and evaluate progress towards goals
  • Possess excellent leadership and motivational skills
  • Ability to review and assess the operational and financial viability of new and existing contractual arrangements
  • Strong team oriented mindset
  • Sound knowledge of GOJ Procurement Guidelines
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Economics or an equivalent/related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in an equivalent/similar position
  • Experience in managing multiple development projects is an asset
  • Specialized training in project management
