The University of Technology, Jamaica, School of Hospitality & Tourism Management in the College of Business and Management seeks to identify suitable candidates to fill the following post: Lecturer: Baking and Pastry (Part-Time)
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate should possess at least a Master’s Degree in the related field of Hospitality & Tourism Management; or a Culinary/Pastry Arts professional certification, that is, the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) equivalent to the minimum of a Master’s degree.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate should possess:
- a minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in the Culinary Arts, preferably at the management level; and
- at least two years full-time (or five years part-time) teaching and assessment experience at the under-graduate level would be an asset.
The candidate will also need to demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching as well as research, and show evidence of successful educational/training practice, offer teaching through a variety of approaches including lectures, practicals, small group tutorials, problem-based learning, and 'e-learning' initiatives, and will be expected to innovate in each of these areas. The incumbent must be able to organize, deliver, coach and assess, a wide range of Baking and Pastry courses from fundamental to advanced content with emphasis on management objectives. This may include but is not limited to baking and pastry demonstrations; commercial bakery operation sessions; basic and classic bread; cake and pastry techniques; and contemporary dessert preparation and artistry.
