Applications are invited to fill the vacant post of Payroll Officer (FMG/AT 3) in the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) – (Headquarters)
Salary range $2,190,302 – $2,945,712 per annum.
Job Purpose
The incumbent will maintain accurate accounting records and ensure timely payment of salaries and disbursement of cheques.
Key Responsibilities
Technical/Professional:
Prepares monthly and other periodic payroll – dispatching of net salaries, statutory and personal deduction schedules;
Assists with the preparation of salary statements for NHT, Banks, Credit Unions, etc;
Files and retrieves prior years’ salary records;
Maintains all earnings records;
Manages employee advance receivables;
Prepares monthly reconciliation statements;
Acts as relief cashier;
Inputs monthly warrants and supplementary estimates;
Liaises with and assists internal or external auditors as required;
Performs any other duties.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Excellent knowledge of government accounting principles and practices;
Working knowledge of the Financial Administration and Audit Act and Public Bodies Management and Accountability Acts;
Good attention to detail and accuracy in work product;
Proficiency in relevant computer applications;
Ability to meet performance and deadline driven output standards;
Good oral and written communication skills;
Good interpersonal and customer service skills;
Good time management skills;
Ability to work in teams.
Minimum Required Qualification and Experience
ACCA level 1 or CAT or AAT level 2; or
Certificate in Accounting or Management; or
Completion of second year of Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or Management Studies; or
Associate of Science Degree in Accounting (MIND); or
Government Accounting Level 2; and
A minimum of three (3) years working experience in a government accounting environment.
