Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Data & Analytics team in the capacity of: Data Architect
Location: Kingston
 
 
As a Data Architect, you will:
  • Evaluate current and create new data architecture and databases and have responsibility for the identification, definition, and classification of data assets.
  • Discover data and analytics requirements for all uses of data along with designing and mapping data stores to create efficient data flow processes.
  • Provide support the integration of databases, support ETL (extract, transform, load) solutions and aid in planning end-to-end data models that facilitate data consumption and analysis towards achieving desired business outcomes.
  • Design semantic models through information technology and business collaboration to meet business objectives:
  • Identify business requirements that are necessary to develop semantic models.
  • Develop models based on requirements gathered.
  • Represent documentation in an easily understood format.
  • Communicate with the necessary stakeholders to gather requirements.
  • Influence Data & Analytics strategic direction:
  • Ensure that recommendations provided are in line with the strategic direction of the group.
  • Prepare documentation outlining and justifying recommendations.
  • Maximize value derived from data and analytics:
  • Track efforts related to the implementation of value-added solutions across the different divisions in the Sagicor Group.
  • Improve existing value-added solutions by driving innovative data exploitation techniques.
  • Recommend improvement to existing processes impacting data as necessary.
  • Enhance decision making across all lines of business and divisions.
  • Enable effective data and analytics governance.
  • Improve Enterprise Information Management performance.
  • Participate in the planning and development of Data Analytics department initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years working experience in Information Technology, with at least one year in information system design.
  • In-depth experience of designing and implementing information solutions.
  • Hands-on experience implementing data and analytics management programs would be an asset.
  • Experience as a data analyst would be asset.
  • Effective conceptualization, pattern recognition and teaming skills.
  • Business acumen, and the ability to communicate with executives, business domain stakeholders and technical staff alike.
  • Demonstrated influence, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with innovation and ideation methods, such as design thinking.
  • Business domain, data/ content and process understanding with strong commercial and business awareness.
  • System integration experience, including interface design, and familiarity with web-oriented architecture techniques.
  • Data modeling and information classification expertise at the enterprise level.
  • Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models.
  • Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude.
  • Understanding metamodels, taxonomies and ontologies, as well as of the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modeling) to less-structured sources.
  • Familiarity with data science concepts, as well as MDM, business intelligence, and data warehouse design and implementation techniques.
  • Ability to analyze project, program and portfolio needs, as well as determine the resources needed to achieve objectives and overcome cross-functional barriers.
  • Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs.
