Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Centralized Collateral & Securities team in the capacity of: Manager – Centralized Collateral & Securities
Location: Kingston
 
 
As a Manager – Centralized Collateral & Securities, you will:
  • Have responsibility and custody of the Bank’s Collateral and Security Documentation portfolio.
  • Manage the process of preparation and perfection of security documentation for personal and corporate lending as approved.
  • Verify collateral requirements and pre-disbursement conditions, in-house stamping, logging of collateral on T24 and the release of collateral and custodial responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance to the Bank’s policies and procedures and the relevant Acts of Jamaica as it relates to the preparing, processing, stamping, recording, safekeeping and releasing of security documents.
  • Manage the processes of preparation and perfection of security documentation for personal and corporate lending as approved.
  • Ensure requests for the preparation of collateral documentation are prepared in adherence to the collateral schedule in the approved credits and Collateral Policy.
  • Monitor the perfection of security documentation within statutory guidelines.
  • Ensure security documents prepared by the team are checked.
  • Maintain the security of all on-site documentation, including storage, retrieval, reconciliation and follow-up for outstanding documentation.
  • Verify collateral requirements and pre-disbursement conditions.
  • Control activities for the verification of loan packages to determine appropriate loan collateral and documentation in adherence to the bank’s policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure executed documents are reviewed before authorization for disbursement.
  • Facilitate collateral verifications by external examiners including Central Bank Representatives’ internal/ external audit teams.
  • Ensure collaterals are updated on the platform; T24 after loan disbursement, release of collateral and receipt of updated collateral items and moveable collaterals and ensure they are logged on National Security Interest in Personal Property (NSIPP) Registry.
  • Monitor and organize requests for release of collateral.
  • Ensure that Request for Release of Collateral documents are completed and appropriately executed with all required information and supporting documents.
  • Authorize releases and or the establishment of blocks/ lien on certificates of deposit.
  • Administer a comprehensive filing system for all documents to be retained.
  • Ensure observance of custodial responsibilities.
  • Identify and refer over the limit and complex transactions to External Counsel and/ or Group Legal Department.
  • Monitor External Counsel and/or Group Legal Department and ensure timely updates are provided within agreed timelines.
  • Review and ensure that the security documentation is prepared and perfected in keeping with the approval from Credit Risk.
  • Ensure the timely completion and submission of reports.
  • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Banking or Business Administration or relevant discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • At least five (5) years working experience in a banking/ financial institution, with at least three (3) years working experience in the area of collateral and security documentation.
  • Exposure to credit documentation.
  • Knowledge of all applicable credit risk policies, guidelines, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of Banking Services Act, Companies Act, Securities Act, Proceeds of Crime Act and other relevant laws and regulations governing the operations of the Company and its subsidiaries.
  • Knowledge of conveyancing practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the laws relating to banking services and associated regulatory requirements.
  • Strong managerial skills.
  • Strong skills in lending, decision making, and problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including word processing and spreadsheet applications and bank technology, namely T24.
  • Sound legal knowledge-base relating to loan securities documentation.
